With time, my artwork has come to be a form of self exploration. Whether my work depicts a personal moment or satirizes the world around me, it acts as an extension of my psyche- translating unspoken thoughts into a visual language. My paintings have recurring themes that I’ve unknowingly integrated: the commodification of women’s bodies, emotional barriers between lovers, and life in late-stage capitalism are the “big three”. Symbols, like the grasping hand and the eclipse, often make their way into my compositions- what they mean is up to interpretation.

I approach artwork like I would approach a puzzle- it reveals itself to me as I create it. It sometimes begins with a core: an emotion I want to capture from a significant moment in my life, and sometimes the final work emerges with no initial idea whatsoever. They however always begin with a few compositional lines I can develop through an improvisational approach. These guidelines, once transformed, usually unveil a subconscious theme that I’ve unloaded onto the canvas. I also frequently use the cubist approach of ignoring scale and traditional perspective, as I find the process to be more dynamic and rewarding. There is no such thing as a mistake: everything can be modified and layered, which results in a piece of art more complex and interesting than I could’ve imagined beforehand.
